Sparkling Sundays at Durbanville Hills

Sundays are fundays they say. What could be better than ending off the weekend on a high note at Durbanville Hills for their Sparkling Sundays?

As you arrive at Durbanville Hills, you are greeted by the gentle whispers of vineyard breezes and the promise of a day filled with laughter and relaxation. The ambiance is nothing short of enchanting, with sprawling vineyards and ocean vistas casting a picturesque backdrop.

Sparkling Sundays are all about relaxed Sunday afternoons in the company of good friends and family with live music, sparkling cocktails and oysters to enhance the mood. At Sparkling Sundays get 20% off sparkling wine cocktails, or enjoy six fresh oysters and a bottle of sparkling Sauvignon Blanc for only R235.

Our journey began with a toast to the good life, as we were welcomed with a glass of Durbanville Hills Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc. It was like a burst of freshness and zest, tailor-made for sipping on a scorching summer’s day.

As the afternoon unfolded, we were treated to heavenly fresh oysters and a mouthwatering charcuterie platter, enjoyed with a bottle of Durbanville Hills’ Sparkling Rosé. Vibrant flavours of strawberries and rose petals dancing on your palate, all tied together with a lively burst of acidity. It was a taste sensation that made the afternoon even more delightful!

Just when you thought the day couldn’t get any better, live music performances added a vibrant touch, with sing-along songs that turned the atmosphere up a notch. And if that wasn’t enough, imagine the joy of sipping on a sparkling wine cocktail that’s simply irresistible.

Choosing from their Sparkling Wine Cocktail Menu was a challenge as they all sounded incredibly tempting! My pick was The Mother City Sunset, a delightful blend of banana-infused gin, grapefruit juice, litchi juice and topped off with Durbanville Hills’ Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc, finished with a touch of crème de cassis. Meanwhile, hubby opted for the Pineapple Chill, a refreshing mix of pineapple vodka, grapefruit juice, and a salted & toasted coconut & ginger syrup, elevated with a splash of Durbanville Hills Honeysuckle and garnished with toasted lime, mint, and a breezy salt water mist.

Interactive Visitor Centre

For those with a penchant for exploration, Durbanville Hills recently introduced a self-guided Visitor Centre, offering a captivating exploration into the world of winemaking. This new visitors centre unfolds the journey gaining insights into the winemaking process that transforms grapes into liquid gold.

The new visitors centre showcases an interactive map that outlines the unique contours of the area, the wine farm’s proximity to the ocean, as well as details about member farms. In fact, the comprehensive overview provides a complete understanding of the cool climate terroir Durbanville Hills is known for. This includes the distinctive characteristics of the region. Various informative displays cover Durbanville Hills’ multiple wine ranges, offering a step-by-step guide to not only the red and white winemaking processes, but also maturation insights. Additionally, the centre also offers valuable tips on proper wine storage at home.

A fun, interactive central pod boasts virtual reality headsets that transport you into the realms of Durbanville Hills’ flagship Tangram range and the Collectors Reserve range, with each bottle named and representing an iconic landmark in Cape Town.

The visitors centre is open every day and pre-bookings aren’t required. All in all, it’s a complete sensory experience that cannot be missed.

So why let the weekend end on a dull note when you can make it sparkle at Durbanville Hills? Their Sparkling Sundays are only available until the end of March though, so don’t miss out to a whole new level of fun and relaxation.
