Elgin Railway Market

Housed in a converted apple warehouse, this old-world stationside market offers a range of food, drink, clothing and much more.

Metal archways, overhanging bridges, lanterns and huge fans provide a steampunk ambiance to the station market. A beautiful space where art deco meets Victorian, this station market is unlike any other in South Africa.

This vibrant, scenic little spot has plenty to offer visitors. It is filled with the smell of craft food and sweets, the sound of live music, and the colours and flavours of South African products. Need a refreshment and something to quench the thirst?Varieties of craft gin, beer and cider are served alongside local wines to enjoy at your own leisure.

To add to the vibe and excitement at Elgin Railway Market, one can ride on a streamtrain, in partnership with the Ceres Train Company or just watch it from the balcony and enjoy its iconic whistle.

This is a fabulous setting. Elgin is about an hour’s drive from Cape Town and this setting is a perfect weekend daytrip for the family! Also the main point for the Elgin Cool Wine and Country Food Festival.
