Wine Concepts presented their 10th exclusive Chardonnay & Pinot Noir Celebration in collaboration with The Vineyard Hotel whilst celebrating International Garden Day on the lawns of the The Vineyard hotel.
Wine Concepts concentrates on discovering wines that not only deliver quality but value too. We were treated to a fine selection of charming Chardonnay’s and juicy Pinot Noir’s! This popular celebration gave wine lovers the opportunity to taste over 100 wines produced from 30 of the Capes’s premium Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wineries.

Tabula Rasa CY95 Chardonnay 2018
CY548 is the fuller, bolder wine with fragrant honeysuckle and ripe fruit whereas CY95 is more feminine with lots of citrus elements. The blocks are right next to each so there is little differences in soil and aspect and both in 50% new oak.

Lothian Chardonnay 2020
The nose is prominent and complex. The entry is surprisingly bracing. The fine acidic backbone that gives this wine a lively tension asserts itself immediately. Flavours of yellow citrus, pineapple and nectarines come to the fore. Integrated wood provides a fragrant base and some texture to the mid palate. This wine has good length and all the while the flavours change in the mouth, the acid stands guard ensuring a very clean finish.
Lothian Pinot Noir 2020
The wine has a bold rich colour. This hints at a more substantial style of Pinot noir. On the nose Spicy Oak gives way to violets and forest floor. The entry is silky. The mid-palate weight of this wine is remarkable. There are, baked plums and morello cherries to be discovered. The youthfulness of this wine is revealed by the cocoa powder tannins that develop along with hints of dark chocolate and strawberry.

It is elegant and complex with perfectly integrated acidity and a good structure. This Pinot Noir is driven by intense fruit and red berry flavours.

Mont Rochelle Miko Chardonnay 2017
