
In the heart of the Stellenbosch winelands along the Helshoogte Pass, you will find Neil Ellis Wines with its newly renovated tasting room and inviting restaurant experience. The tasting room has been designed to heighten every sense and to bring wines on their portfolio to life in a calm and thoughtful way.
The refreshed look is simplistic and warm with cosy lounge-style seating that encourages you to relax and spend time with loved ones. Large glass doors open onto a spacious deck where the views stretch over the mountains and valleys. It is a place to linger during the summer months as the breeze moves across the valley. The renovated space is complemeted by food that brings the wines into focus and creates a gentle harmony between food and wine.






Neil Ellis Wines was founded in 1984 with a vision to source grapes from different areas that best express the varietal and character. This philosophy shaped the range and continues to guide the winemaking team.

Site Specific
Amica Sauvignon Blanc 2022
Sourced from a single vineyard in the Jonkershoek Valley. Whole bunch pressed and matured for 8 to 9 months in small portion of new French oak barrels. Aromas of honeysuckle, pear and lemon with a fresh palate and flinty minerality.

Whitehall Chardonnay 2022
Sourced from Whitehall farm in Elgin. Whole bunch pressed. Spent 9 months in barrels using both new and seasoned oak. Aromas of citrus with gentle flinty notes and an elegant finish.

Piekenierskloof Grenache 2020
Sourced from old bush vines planted in 1966. Matured for 14 months in new and seasoned barrels. Bright red berry notes that carry through to the palate with fresh vibrant flavours.

Rodanos 2021
Rodanos is the Celtic term for Rhône. This is a blend of 60% Groenekloof Shiraz and 40% Piekenierskloof Grenache. Spent 14 months in new and seasoned barrels. Generous red and black fruit with spicy undertones and velvety tannins.

Jonkershoek Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
Notes of blue and blackberries with well-defined tannins. Spent 18 months in barrels.

Noble Late Harvest Semillon 2016
Sourced from South Hill Farm in Elgin. Gold in colour with a green tint. Notes of ripe peach, honey and lime with a creamy texture and balanced finish.

Regional
Groenekloof Sauvignon Blanc 2024
From old bush vines in Darling on the West Coast with cooling sea breezes from the ocean. 10% of this wine was barrel fermented. Tropical with citrus aromas that flow into a long flavoursome finish.

Groenekloof Syrah 2022
Small perfentage of Cinsaut was added to lift this wine. Spent 14 months in new and seasoned barrels. Aromas of red fruit, violets and pepper with a juicy palate of cherries and spice. Well balanced with firm tannins.

Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
Sourced from vineyards in the Bottelary Hills and Jonkershoek Valley. Spent 18 months in new and seasoned barrels. Aromas of dark fruit and liquorice, followed by fine dense tannins.

Inspiration
Insignium Cabernet Franc 2019
Grapes are from Jonkershoek Valley. Red and black fruit with floral notes and dries herbs. Punchy acidity and firm tannins. Spent 18 months in 100% new oak.

Restaurant
The menu offers Flatbreads and Mains such as Beef Sirloin, Linefish and Fire Brick Chicken along with delicious Specials. Guests can enjoy Cheese or Charcuterie platters and end with desserts like Chocolate Profiteroles or refreshing Lime Ice Cream. Children can choose from simple favpurites like Chicken Strips and chips and vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce.
The Mozzarella Flat Bread is a highlight and pairs beautifully with the white wines. It is prepared in the pizza oven and topped with garlic, mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, roasted sweet peppers, cucumber ribbons and parmesan with a lemon herb dressing and sprinkles of thyme.
Specials may include slow-cooked Short ribs to share. Tender, comforting and served with crunchy flavoursome onion rings and a fresh salad. The lime Ice Cream is a refreshing option to close a meal and pairs beautifully with the Semillon Noble Late Harvest.
