Let Quoin Rock’s Chardonnay Transport Your Wine Senses To New Heights

Regarded as the divisive varietal, Chardonnay seems to have gone out of and come back into fashion in more ways than one. However, this time it seems to be sticking around for good and has become the wine of choice for most wine enthusiasts throughout the year. Quoin Rock Wine Estate, situated in the heart of the Stellenbosch Winelands, is home to one of South Africa’s sought after Chardonnays, and with the release of the Chardonnay 2018, you’ll no doubt be the envy of your friends.

Regarded as ‘Winter’s white wine of choice’, this perfect all year round wine is a beautiful straw colour with hints of green, alluding to its youthfulness and vibrancy. ‘The attractive nose showcases ripe citrus and orange peel aromas which carry through to hints of vanilla spice oak and toasted brioche,’ says winemaker Schalk Opperman. Citrus peel on the palate adds good weight and a lightly buttery texture, resulting in a well-balanced wine with fresh acid and minerality. The persistent lemon lime flavours linger on the finish.

Schalk enjoys savouring the wine on its own after a busy day in the vineyards, or if he’s entertaining friends this wine partners perfectly with most seafood dishes, especially crayfish.

The Quoin Rock Chardonnay 2018 is available directly from the estate or via their online wine shop at R400 per bottle. For more information visit www.quoinrock.co.za.
