Remhoogte wine estate is situated in the Stellenbosch winelands and it’s a small family owned farm with a history dating back to 1812. It derives its Dutch name from the days of the ox wagons when brakes needed to be applied to the wheels before descending the steep hill down into Stellenbosch. The name typifies the Dutch heritage and is uniquely South African.
The view from the tasting room terrace is spectacular with zebra and wildebeest roaming in the distance. The tastings are conducted by the friendly ladies, Kungeka and Elsebe, and they will make you feel very welcome with their vibrant personalities. Remhoogte also offers accommodation with comfortable and private self-catering units.

Reserve Range
REMHOOGTE SYRAH 2018
Deep ruby red. Aromas of black plums, cranberry, white pepper, vanilla and sweet tobacco. Sweet fruited entry on the palate. Broad, plush tannins and mouth feel with a fresh acidity and a savoury liquorish spice on the finish.
REMHOOGTE CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2018
The wine has juicy dark fruit on the entry with a lively acid adding balance. A classic fine-grained tannin counters the fruit and lingers in the finish.
REMHOOGTE SIR THOMAS CULLINAN 2016
Enticing aromas of blackcurrants and strawberries with undertones of cedar, cocoa and liquorice. Perfectly balanced palate of the initial sweetness of ripe currants and plums; leading to red cherries and black olives. This Bordeaux style is made up of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
REMHOOGTE HONEYBUSH CHENIN BLANC 2020
Honeybunch is made from the first pick through this vineyard. All the exposed bunches on the morning sun side only are harvested. They turn a golden colour as a result of their exposure to the sun and develope a unique honeyed character.
100% Chenin Blanc. Aromas of pears, orange, limes and honeysuckle. On the palate, gentle brioche like sweetness freshened by flavours of lime and passion fruit. A beautiful well-rounded wine with a cream feel and a long lingering finish.
Premium Range
REMHOOGTE ASPECT MERLOT 2016
The Aspect is from a vineyard at the top of the estate and the name refers to the direction the slope faces.
Fresh herbal scent, surrounded by fruity notes. Balanced and long lasting on the palate.
REMHOOGTE VANTAGE PINOTAGE 2018
Aromas of cherries with a hint of fynbos. Slight earthiness bringing depth to the wine. Soft and smooth. The palate is bright and juicy with a delicate acidity and soft tannin.
It’s produced from grapes that are harvested from 19-year-old bush vines from a single two-acre vineyard block.
REMHOOGTE CHRONICLE CAPE BLEND 2017
The wine is dark purple and inky in colour with sark fruits on the nose. Fruity red wine blend with spicy notes. Long-lasting on the palate with pleasant tannins.
It’s a Cape Blend of Pinotage, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot. This blend is meant to serve as a record or Chronicle of the estate in its entirety each year. Due to the varying soil types, elevations and aspects each block brings a unique character to the blend.
REMHOOGTE FIRST LIGHT CHENIN BLANC 2020
Refreshing aromas of apricots and pears followed by almond and fynbos. The palate is fresh with a zesty acidity. A gentle spice and light lees character brings length and polishes the finish.

REMHOOGTE FREE TO BE CABERNET SAUVIGNON CINSAULT 2019
The nose shows lovely red and black cherry aromas with some fresh herbs in the background. The palate is light bodied with juicy fruit and a fresh acidity.
REMHOOGTE FREE TO BE WEISSER RIESLING 2020
Smooth entry onto the palate with all the juicy fresh fruit coming through and freshened by a limey acidity which also brings length.
The Free To Be range Is a pure expression of the cultivar, terroir and minimal intervention.
REMHOOGTE FREE TO BE VINE DRIED RIESLING 2020
Delicious sweet dessert wine with an amber hue. Enticing aromas of toffee, dried apricots and walnuts. Flavours of fleshy pineapple, ripe apricot and marmalade supported by orange blossom, jasmine and wild rosemary.
