What a wonderful event at Upper Union Restaurant in the heart of the Kloof Street Neighbourhood, showcasing the renowned De Wetshof Wine Estate. On arrival we were greeted with a glass of their delightful De Wetshof Cap Classique Blanc de Blancs 2020, enjoyed beside the cosy fireplace in the lounge and dining area upstairs.
The event was centered around all things Chardonnay, a grape variety for which De Wetshof Wine Estate is highly acclaimed. We started off with an engaging wine tasting session savouring the distinct flavours of De Wetshof’s unoaked Chardonnays. The lineup included the refreshing Limestone Hill 2023, the elegant Bon Vallon 2022, and the introduction of the exciting new addition, Calcrete 2023.
Following these delightful unoaked selections, the tasting continued with their Finesse 2022, The Site 2022 and my personal favourite, the Bateleur 2021, all of which were beautifully wooded.
After the enlightening wine tasting, a spread of delicious food was served, which we enjoyed with the Chardonnays from De Wetshof Wine Estate.
The event at Upper Union Restaurant was an incredible celebration of the artistry and passion behind De Wetshof’s Chardonnay production. It provided an opportunity for all attended to indulge in a range of exquisite wines, appreciate the unique qualities of each vintage and explore the rich flavours that De Wetshof Wine Estate has to offer.
