“We’re Capturing Hearts Through Taste,” Says Heineken Beverages

Five of HEINEKEN Beverages’ much-admired wine brands have earned a total of seven trophies at the 2024 Trophy Wine Show, sponsored by Investec. The brands are Nederburg, Durbanville Hills, Pongrácz and J.C. Le Roux.

The Trophy Show, one of the South Africa’s most prestigious wine competitions, awarded gold to less than 5% of entries of this year.

Michael Fridjhon, convenor and chair of the event for over 20 years, highlighted in a recent Business Day column how Jancis Robinson, one of the world’s most influential critics, once called the Trophy Wine Show “possibly the toughest wine competition in the world”. (She has previously judged on three occasions.)

Kavir Gangiah, who leads HEINEKEN Beverages’ wine category, said the panel’s affirmation was as a great motivator “to keep doing what we do best – building and maintaining well-loved and trusted South African wine brands. Providing assured great taste every time is the way we capture the hearts of South Africans.”

“Attention to detail from the soil to the bottle is central to our ethos, spearheaded by our extraordinary winemaking teams. You’ll find it in every wine we make.”
