The Goats Do Roam Story

Fairview Winery’s Goats Do Roam wine range is a clever play on Côtesdu Rhône, the southern France region that inspired this wine’s style, and a shout out to the herd of goats that produce cheese for the winery. The legend goes that some errant members of Fairview’s long-established goat herd once escaped from their paddock into the Fairview vineyards. The little group happily roamed among the vineyards, showing rare discernment by selecting only the ripest berries from the vines – Shiraz, Mourvèdre and Grenache Noir. Inspired by this tale, the Fairview Goats Do Roam Red Blend was born, with a White and a Rosé following later. Highly drinkable and superb in quality, the Goats Do Roam range is an intriguing mix of southern French and Italian style blends, rich in complexity and at value-for-money prices.

For all the light-hearted sense of fun evident in the labelling and branding of the Goats do Roam range, the wines themselves take a serious approach to quality. The style is modern, fruit-rich, with intelligent use of wood for either fermentation and/or maturation in small French and American oak barrels.
