The Visionaries Behind TERRA.LOCI.

Bertus Fourie, an oenologist with a scientific edge, is known for his innovative approach to winemaking. Creator of the iconic “coffee Pinotage” under the Barista brand, Bertus also brings his passion for wine and food to this project.

Johann Fourie, one of South Africa’s most celebrated winemakers, balances the precision of science with the artistry of the craft. With accolades like Diners Club Winemaker of the Year (2015) and extensive experience in local and international wine regions, Johann’s expertise anchors the venture.
Pieter du Toit, a Stellenbosch-born wine industry leader with over 20 years of worldwide experience, combines his deep connection to South African terroirs with insights into international wine trends. Based in Europe, Pieter adds a global perspective to the partnership.

A Shared Vision

While this debut collection is a milestone, it is just the beginning. The idea for TERRA.LOCI. was born years ago when Bertus and Johann crossed paths during their early careers. What began as mutual respect evolved into a shared dream: to create wines that celebrate South Africa’s distinctive terroirs. With Pieter joining the project, their collective vision has come to life.

“This award is a testament to our shared vision and dedication to showcasing the best of South Africa’s terroirs,”said Johann Fourie. “We are humbled and proud to be recognised by Platter’s in our very first year.”
