Imagine a farm stall in De Doorns decorated with displays of quirky objects sourced from attics and junkyards, beautiful furniture, tasty goodies and knick knacks? It might sound just like an ordinary setup that you would expect at any farm stall. But what makes The Veldskoen Farm Stall in Doorns stand out?
It’s one of the last places you would ever expect a chef who has worked with celeb chefs before. Chef Jacques Eugene Le Roux has worked in a Michelin star establishment in Europe and has worked in one of Gordon Ramsay’s kitchens, Petrus. His signature dish is a mouthwatering, fall-off-the bone Lamb shank.
The Lamb shank is cooked to perfection with the most tender, succulent meat that simply melts in your mouth and leave you speechless. Served on top of a bed of mash potatoes and veggies with a flavoursome yet aromatic gravy to marry the whole dish together. Lamb shanks are done over weekends and on prior orders. Definitely worth every bite!
The restaurant has tables indoor amongst the interesting displays as well as under the spacious shady verandah in the garden. A great spot to relax from driving whilst enjoying a tea-break or lunch.
Definitely worth the stop when you are en route on the N1 through De Doorns. We were told that their cheesecake is divine and a must have. We will be back to try out the cheesecake.
